I've had them barely do anything, do nothing and do so little the battery just treads water or loses less, but doesn't charge. This product is a very nice exception. It charged my Samsung Note 3 - which has an extended 4500 mah battery inside from a half- to full charge in a morning under the hot sun - put it on the roof of a boat on a lake. No ill effects from the sun.
- By Ozz on June 10, 2014. I love this charger! It rocks. I have had it about a week now and have tested it under numerous conditions. Under direct sunlight, this is every bit as fast as charging with an outlet. I took it to lunch & sat on the patio and charged my phone 25% in about 20 to 25 mins. On a cloudy day, it still performs, much slower, but it still performs. I have a 11,000mah battery pack & on a VERY cloudy day & it went from 0% to about 1/2 full in about 12 hours. Mind you this battery pack takes about 5-6 hours to charge in an outlet, so I thought it did great for a super cloudy day. Hey, free power is free power, I'll even take a trickle charge if it's free.
